London rightly lays claim to be the shopping capital of the world! Just minutes from Gower House Hotel you will find yourselves on Oxford Street, where you'll find the department stores of John Lewis, Debenhams, Marks & Spencer and of course the world famous Selfridges. With over 200m visitors every year and 300+ shops, it's arguably London's busiest street. Complete with high street fashion, the flagship Nike store, tech, restaurants and cafés, Oxford Street is a firm favourite with tourists and Londoners alike.
Dissecting Oxford Street is Regent Street, famous for its sweeping Nash terraces leading down to Piccadilly Circus. It's slightly more upmarket than Oxford St and window shopping in Regent Street has become a national pastime! The Apple store is on Regent Street as is Liberty, Banana Republic and the British classic Aquascutum. Don't forget Hamley's, the world's most famous toy shop!
Perhaps the most exclusive shopping in London, if not the world (alongside Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills), Bond Street is a haven for fashionistas the world over. You'll find Prada, Chanel, Ralph Lauren and Louis Vuitton as well as Tiffany, Cartier and Asprey so you can dress to impress and then accessorise!
Carnaby Street, famous for its 60s punk counterculture, is now home to über-trendy boutiques, bars and cafés. The surrounding streets, including Foubert's Place, Kingly Court and Newburgh Street are equally packed with urban cool, vintage clothes shops and 'concept' shops.
Shopping in London is so rich and varied that there's literally something for everyone.
